Vintage Finds

Now that it's getting sunnier everybody seems to be getting outside; gardens are starting to take shape after the horrible winter frosts.  Last week we had our first BBQ, admittedly by the end of the evening we were very definitely in need of blankets and throws, however it was lovely to be outside.
When setting the table I decided to unveil my latest find, a beautiful linen vintage table cloth! I love it!!!
After our BBQ we took a stroll to our local pub, they've changed the decor, incorporating lots of lovely
lamps and old drink bottles as flower vases. I love the silver lining of the lampshade, it really reflects the light! Hope you enjoy the photos!
Now... back to my mirror,  bought from an antiques fair for £5.  I just opened it up so I could paint the frame and found a newspaper in the back from 1956!!! A proper find!! Hoping it looks ok once the paint dries.  Watch this space!

Vintage Fair

On Sunday, I went to a Vintage Fair with a friend.  We spent a good hour or so exploring the "treasures" that were on display.  I was a little disappointed not to find any furniture or "housey bits" but I did stumble across possibly the most beautiful perfume bottle.  Inspired by my friend's love of perfume bottles, she bought three stunning coloured glass bottles, I found a gold patterned bottle.

This has now inspired me to find a dressing table which I can give some TLC, so I can display lots of treasures like this one.  With plans to move into our spare bedroom, I have a blank canvas to work with.... yay!!!!!

Time for some researching, watch this space for ideas and inspiration!

How it began...

Most Sunday mornings I walk my dog between rows of gorgeous Victorian terraced houses.  Each one is different.  Some have carefully tended gardens, others have doors with stunning window glasses, sash windows, curtains, blinds and many other things that make each one so different from the previous.

As I walk Percy, I admire these houses.  I try to steal a glimpse of what the inside looks like.  I'm not interested in who lives there or what they are doing.  No! It's all about what funiture "lives" there; how have the walls been "made up"; what type of floors, carpets are there.  I'm addicted!

I absolutely LOVE old furniture!
I love the idea of finding a piece of treasure in someone else's junk.  Some need a little TLC in the form of a coat of paint, a spot of varnish or some sanding to give a tired piece a bit of love.

This blog will become a scrapbook of rooms I admire, furniture I love and some pieces of furniture that I have found and given a new lease of life to!   I hope you enjoy reading it and looking at the pictures I find.
